About me
I am a registered Clinical Psychologist, with a Master of Clinical and Health Psychology Degree. Entitlement to use the specialist title of Clinical Psychologist in Western Australia,
requires six years of university training, plus two years of supervised practice.
I am a member of The Australian Psychological Society (APS), The APS College of Clinical Psychologists,
and The Australian Association of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
There are a number of different approaches to counselling and therapy. The predominant therapy which I use is Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), together with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), as indicated by clinical need.
I have also pursued training in, and use techniques from -
- Schema Focused Therapy (which considers problem patterns throughout life)
- Narrative Therapy
- Solution Focused Brief Therapy
I also use Eye Movement Desensitisation
Reprocessing (EMDR), which is a specialised treatment for the resolution
of traumatic memories, and I would discuss this in depth with you if this
therapy seems appropriate.
If you wish to see someone with a
different therapeutic orientation (e.g. psychoanalysis, dreamwork, Jungian
therapy, Gestalt therapy, etc) I am happy to refer you to an appropriate
therapist, where available.
For a full description of the therapies I provide, please refer to my Services page.
